"I recently brought a group of women to El Verde Peru, and as a retreat leader who has been guiding retreats for the past six years, I can honestly say this experience was one of the very best. Jyl has thought of every detail and has created a space that feels warm, welcoming, and---well, magical. From each thoughtfully prepared meal to the around-the-clock availability of specialty teas and the cozy nightly fires in the fireplace, we felt deeply cared for every step of the way. The rooms were spotless, yet cleaned daily to maintain a level of cleanliness that is above and beyond anything I have experienced before. The gardens are stunning. Each day we discovered something new... a hidden nook, blooming flowers we missed the day before, hummingbirds moving through the space, a surprise around every flower! The land, surrounded by the mountains, feels alive and intentional. Set in a small, rural community, we felt both part of a community but also experienced the quiet needed when on retreat. The Sacred Valley is powerful on its own, but what Jyl has created at El Verde truly elevates the experience of being there. There is a sense of care in every corner of the property. It allowed our group to settle in, connect with one another, and fully receive the beauty of Peru... and as a retreat leader, I couldn't hope for anything more! "Just returned from an awsome yoga week at El Verde. The owner, Jyl, is a kind soul who worked very hard to quietly allow the week to unfold in a peaceful & powerful experience. The food was fresh, delicious & fun. My room was cozy, clean & beautiful. The gardens, framed by the mountains were alive with hummingbirds, bees & beauty.The yoga studio was well equiped & clean. Jyl arranged a life changing sound bath, a visit to cultural sights, an Inca blessing ceremony as well as a chocolate tasting & hike to a beautiful waterfall. "My time at El Verde with Jyl was truly magical. It’s honestly hard to put into words because it felt like coming home to something I didn’t even realize I was missing.We arrived at night so on the first morning, waking up to clouds wrapped around the mountains, I literally cried. The energy and beauty of my surroundings was a soulful experience. Walking through the eclectic garden and grounds, and eating food grown right there from the loving earth was unforgettable. Every meal felt intentional and nourishing in the deepest way. The hikes were adventurous, yet accessible, with unbelievable views, and the daily visits from Kimchi and Quila brought so much joy to the days! The staff is sweet, polite and caring as well. Jyl’s attention to detail is personal and pure. The property is unique and eclectic, just like she is. The daily somatic and neuro experiences were thoughtfully curated based on how we were feeling in the moment. It felt incredibly intentional and supportive. This is a gift if you’re craving time to reconnect with yourself, nature, and your heart. El Verde stays with you. I’m so grateful for the time I’ve spent there and will return!"

"I had an absolutely amazing experience staying at El Verde during a chocolate festival. Jyl has created a truly magical, calming, and deeply inspirational retreat lodge. From the moment I arrived, I felt held by the peaceful atmosphere—it was both joyful and grounding in the best possible way. During the event, I met so many wonderful new friends who share a love for cacao and chocolate, which made the experience even richer. The resident dog, Quilla, and the cat, Kimchi, added an extra layer of warmth and joy to my stay. Jyl is an incredible host. Always making sure that her guests are taken very well care of. She even organized a 90 minutes Shiatsu massage session for me, with Lili, another talented and heartfelt person. I felt like a new person afterwards. The food at El Verde is also amazing, made with fresh, local and organic produce. The flavours and nutritions is well balanced. And, oh, love the tea cups and the aromatic teas available. Jyl´s attention to detail is exceptional, both in the way the lodge is designed and in how the space is cared for. The interiors are spectacular—my bedroom featured beautiful art and an enormous, incredibly comfortable bed that truly made me feel like a queen. The shared living areas feel as though they are taken straight from a fairy tale. The garden is another world entirely, filled with an incredible variety of beautiful plants. Hummingbirds and other birds are constantly visiting, feeding on nature’s many delights, creating a sense of quiet wonder. With the majestic mountains rising in the background, the entire setting feels almost unreal—wild, serene, and fairy-tale-like. Lying in a hammock in the garden made me feel like I was on a flying carpet. My warmest gratitude goes to Jyl for creating such an extraordinary space for people to gather, connect, and be inspired. I cannot recommend highly enough either hosting or participating in a retreat at the magnificent El Verde."

"I recently had the great pleasure to spend a week at El Verde Retreat with my yoga group. From the moment we walked in and met Jyl, I knew this was going to be a special experience. Our group felt welcome and well taken care of. All rooms, including the yoga space were open and airy. The food was delicious, well prepared and healthy - with careful attention to dietary needs. We never felt our presence was an imposition and Jyl made everything and every activity feel effortless. Beyond the creature comforts, though, the true magic happened with her carefully curated connections for exploration of this country and the people she has come to love. The photos seen on the website are real and seeing them brings back sweet memories. If you have only one opportunity to visit Peru, I highly recommend El Verde as the the place to spend that visit."

"Our retreat at El Verde in Huaran (The Sacred Valley) of Peru was truly a lifetime memory. Jyl, our host, was not only an accomplished cook, gardener, and manager, but also a wonderful giving accepting person. The rooms were airy, roomy, with comfortable bed and warmth from quilts, blankets, and special soft hot water bottles! The bathrooms were large, useful and remodeled nicely, filtered water provided every night. Everything was so clean. The food was spectacular - healthy, tasty, FFFresh, innovative, and with local ingredients - just yummy all around. There were plenty of snacks and helpful drinks always out, and everyone’s likes, dislikes, and allergies were recognized. The yoga room was comfortable and well stocked. The lodge and outdoor patio had fireplaces/pits, for gatherings. Quilla and Kimchee (pets) were loving, entertaining, and a highlight (for me). Now to the garden space. It was so prolific with flowers, bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds it was like a dream. Neat and organized, it even had two hammocks for relaxing as well as comfortable chairs and couches on the patios. Jyl’s green thumb is present in every astonishing color, and some trees held lemons and avocados. I loved the chocolate collection and choosing my favorite - another highlight. I felt very grateful to be allowed to stay at El Verde. If you choose El Verde for your sojourn you will never be disappointed."

Jyl made it so easy for planning , expeditions, shuttle , communication and making this boutique retreat center meet our needs. The grounds- immaculate! The rooms-spacious and curated with little Peruvian boutique touches. The food- beyond our expectations and encouraged me to do better once home! The flowers- the nature- the yoga space- the double rainbows (Jyl didn’t have the control on this one but Apu was blessing us with vibrancy and blessings).
